What do you know about the suburb of Belmont? It is, of course, on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar. Continual occupation for, let’s say, 60,000 years.
European settlement was in 1829, and the area was named “Belmont” after the estate of Captain Francis Armstrong, an early settler. Unlike most of Perth, Belmont had fertile soil. For decades, it supported thriving dairies and orchards. The major industrial footprint was the brickworks. Gone now, but you can still see the Old Bristile Kilns at Ascot. They’re heritage listed. Belmont gradually shifted from rural to residential and commercial after the First World War. Suburban living, close to the Perth CBD.
Mid-20th century, the Perth Airport expanded and Belmont Forum was a major suburban shopping complex. Housing density increased, and so did the need for allied health services. With the modernisation of the Ascot Racecourse, Belmont became a bustling urban hub serving Victoria Park, Rivervale, Cloverdale, Maylands and Redcliffe. These areas have deep-rooted connections to horse racing and a rich industrial heritage. We’re proud to provide disability and private health services here.
We know we have an excellent methodology and terrific people. We’re hoping we can help the local community with speech, physio and mental health services.
